Looking Ahead to Syracuse: Prize Money Increase Announced, Division Information, Lodging Advice

Cazenovia, NY, March 27, 2008:Â+ The Syracuse Invitational Sporthorse Tournament featuring the 125th National Horse Show is pleased to announce an increase in overall prize money for its International Open Jumper division, including the $100,000 Budweiser FEI World Cup Qualifier of Syracuse. Thanks to our sponsors, the total prize money for the International Open Jumper division will top $260,000 with no increase in entry fees. Besides the increase in prize money, jumper competitors will, for the first time at Syracuse, experience the tradition, pomp and prestige that the National Horse Show’s 125-year history brings to the open jumper division.
The Tournament, which runs from October 29 to November 2, 2008 also includes national and junior/amateur-owner jumpers as well as junior, amateur-owner, green and regular hunter divisions, along with the ASPCA Maclay National Championship in equitation.
In the $8,000 National Open Jumper division, 20 entries will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. In the $60,000 High Junior/Amateur-Owner division 10 entries will be offered based on USEF money won in High Amateur-Owner classes; 10 entries based on High Junior USEF money won; 10 entries will be for the top ten finishers in the Show Jumping Hall of Fame Series in the East Coast League, and 10 for the top ten West Coast League finishers in the Series. Additional entries will be accepted on a first come, first served basis for a total number of 50 entries in the division. The $6,500 Low Junior/Amateur-Owner division and the $11,500 Medium Junior/Amateur-Owner division will each accept 30 entries on a first come, first served basis.
The 125th National Horse Show also brings the finale of the hunter and equitation seasons to Syracuse with the following divisions. The 2008 Tournament will include:
ASPCA Maclay National Championship
$7,500.00 Small Junior Hunters: 10 entries
$7,500.00 Large Junior Hunters: 10 entries
$7,500.00 Amateur-Owner Hunters (18-35): 10 entries
$7,500.00 Amateur-Owner Hunters (Over 35): 10 entries
$7,500.00 Green Working Hunters: 15 entries
$7,500.00 Green Conformation Hunters: 15 entries
$7,500.00 Regular Conformation Hunters:Â+ 10 entries
$7,500.00 Regular Working Hunters:Â+ 10 entries
All Hunter entries will be accepted using USEF National Horse of the Year points in their respective divisions earned between December 1, 2007 and August 31, 2008 with the top 15 shows to count.

The Syracuse Invitational recommends booking your hotel rooms immediately if you are considering attending because the Tournament coincides with Syracuse University’s Parents Weekend this year. As in the past, all invited International Open Jumper riders will be provided with one (1) hotel room arranged by the Tournament.
