The National Horse Show Association of America, Ltd is thrilled to be joining the Deeridge Derby as a supporter and sponsor. For the benefit of the USHJA
Foundation, the National Horse Show Association presents the inaugural Deeridge Derby Weekend, held at beautiful Deeridge Farms in Wellington, FL this
March 3-5, 2017. With so many wonderful events during the Wellington season focused on showjumping, the National Horse Show is proud to support this
fantastic event highlighting some of the nation’s best hunter riders in a world-class venue.
The new Deeridge Derby Weekend follows the tremendous success of the inaugural 2016 Wellington Masters and the 2017 Palm Beach Masters, which each
featured exciting world-class show jumpers from around the world as one of the fourteen coveted qualifying events of the Longines FEI World Cup™
Jumping North American League. Deeridge Farms and the organizers of the CP Palm Beach Masters, presented by SOVARO®, have created an entirely new
event, this time bringing to center stage the outstanding group of hunters that have flocked to Wellington for the winter show season.
Founded in New York by a group of influential sportsmen, the National Horse Show was held at the original Madison Square Garden for the first time
in 1883. After moving to the two newest “Gardens” the show has since found a permanent home at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky as
the CP National Horse Show. The CP National Horse Show has become a “must-show” destination for the country’s top equestrian athletes and is the
culmination of the indoor season.
Over the years the National Horse Show Association has been known for its generosity in giving to many worthwhile causes, including the ASPCA, as the
show hosts the ASPCA Maclay Championship each year. The ASPCA Maclay National Finals has become of the premier equestrian events in the United
States. Winning the ASPCA Maclay Finals is the ultimate goal for many of the top junior riders around the country, such as 2016 champion Hunter
Holloway. In addition to the ASPCA, The National Horse Show Association is proud to support the efforts of the USHJA Foundation and USET Foundation.
In addition, The CP National Horse Show also offers the Leo Conroy Grant program. Leo Conroy, co-manager of the National Horse Show and Chairman
of the ASPCA Maclay Finals, passed away early in January, 2015. To commemorate his loyalty and dedication, the National Horse Show Association
established a grant fund in his name, The Leo Conroy Maclay Grant. This grant is awarded annually to up to five (5) Maclay riders who demonstrate
a financial need in order to participate in the Maclay Finals. This grant provides deserving junior riders with the opportunity to compete at the
finals and fulfill their goals for their junior careers.
This year’s CP National Horse Show will take center stage in Lexington from October 31 through November 5th, 2017. The
2016 event was a resounding success with $810,000 in prize money offered. Designated a CSI-W 4* show by the FEI, the International Open Jumpers
competed for almost a half a million dollars in prize money, while the top rated hunter sections had a total purse of $195,000. An additional $130,000
was offered to the Amateur-Owner and USEF U 25 Jumper sections. Spectators and competitors can expect the 2017 edition of the CP National Horse
Show to be even bigger and better. It is certainly an event that should not be missed.
