The 2018 National Horse Show hosted the inaugural THIS Adult Equitation Championship Class. With 38 riders from across the country competing this class was a huge success. The setting for the class in the Altech Arena could not have been more impressive. The jumps and the course, both designed by Bobby Murphy, were artfully and masterly done. The competition itself was extraordinary. All these riders seemed to be aware of what a special class this was and so rose to the occasion with their own personal best rounds. But more than anything, those that were in attendance noticed the sheer enjoyment and appreciation of these riders, trainers and supporters to just be part of a historical beginning for such a great class.
In 2019 the THIS Adult Equitation Championship Class will again be held at the National Horse Show in Lexington, KY. This year riders will be required
to qualify for the Finals by accruing points at shows during the year in THIS NHS Adult Medal Classes. These classes will be offered for riders at
horse shows across the country. These classes may be offered at any horse show that is eligible to offer either the ASPCA Maclay or the Hamel 3’3”
Medal classes. Qualifying requirements are at a minimum to allow riders to be able to easily reach the goal of qualifying for this prestigious Finals.
These classes will also allow riders to hone their skills during the year in order to be able to produce their own best performance at the Finals themselves.
The THIS Adult Equitation Championship class will be held this year over the weekend of October 25-27, 2019. In addition to this Final, the National Horse
Show will also be showcasing the Hamel Foundation 3’3” Equitation Championship Class, the KHJA NHS Equitation Championship as well as Open Equitation
